No maps available error, tom tom 5000

[QUOTE="zengshengliu, post: 185675, member: 24128"Does the new Nav4 device need to do anything to switch from unit memory map to SD card map?[/QUOTE]
No, as dhn said just go to Settings >> Maps and click the one you want.
There, it does not tell you whether it is on internal or SD.

No it wont fit and automatically goes onto the memory card as you say. i tried putting a smaller map on the device and still got the same message.

Can you try a restart (turn off the device first, and turn back on, and make sure its off not sleep)
If it doesn't work. Try remove the map from the device using MyDrive, turn off, on, and reinstall

Rang up support today and all sorted. The problem was some voices that i had downloaded years ago for my old tomtom that was interfering with the map downloads. They cleared it their end and i had to clear the home 3 folder and with an update it came back on.Thank you everyone.

Home 3 folder? Will have been completely invisible to everything you've been doing. Home can't see your 5000, and your 5000 can't see the old Home folders. Strange request.

Glad to hear that you got that sorted. Is there some chance that you used the same email address for both your old TomTom unit (that we didn't know about until now) and your new 5000? THAT certainly will put a wrench in things.
