Hi All and nice to be part of the Family!
I have an issue, I recently purchased a go 5000, I wanted to update an existing map as the device has lifetime maps, unfortunately during download and restart, not only has the map not uploaded but the orange band with "no maps available" notice is on my main screen, I did go back to my drive to reinstall but there is nothing there, no links no maps nothing please can someone help

Welcome to TomTomForums.

Please note that life time maps are keyed to a device AND the email address with which it was avtivated.
Please clarify if yours is a GO 5000 or a GO 5100.

Since neithert seem to be new product, did you get the eMail address from the seller with which the original subscription was started.
Note, it does not have to be a real address, only one that remains unique to that device.

When you connect with USB to the MyDrive Connect program on your PC and log in, what do you see?

Hi Arno, my device is a tom tom go 5000 I purchased this recently from an online auction site, person selling has a car with onboard satnav, on mydrive I see my via live and this device recently added to my devices, it had full Europe maps, but I questioned this with the seller as it should have world maps
the map was visible under the device however there was an update available as it hadn't been updated for 8 months, I clicked the update and once the update completed the no maps available banner came on and the maps no longer visible under the device in mydrive
I can ask the seller for the email address if required however I reregistered the device to my account and I assumed the device and service was transferable.

Think of it as a bit of 'theft prevention'. If the device was already registered to another user, it shouldn't have even been possible to register it under a second email account. It's 'one per device'.
It would be best to contact the previous owner to see if indeed it had been registered/updated under another email address.
The good news is that once it's all straightened out, you'll have access to whatever maps were made available. However, I believe that if ALL of Europe is included Inot just Western Europe), it would have been necessary for the previous owner to have paid for the additional map coverage. The 5000 didn't normally come with all of Europe in one shot -- it doesn't even have enough memory for that -- requires a uSD card, probably 16GB. Western Europe alone will, these days, eat up the entire 8GB of the device and then some.

The moderators canderson and dhn are more versed about this than I.
My guess is that the map you had for the last 8 months was the last update the original user made but the system failed you when trying to upgrade without the proper credentials.
Let's see what their advice will be.

Posted about 132 millisecond before you, Arno.

thanks Arno and Canderson, I thought of the theft bit, I was wondering about a notice/report system, when mine was stolen recently, I have contacted the seller for info, however I may have been sold a pup, as it was described as a 5100 (hence error on my id) it was described to have full world maps life time cameras and updates, so if not resolved it shall be going back!!

thanks for your help, you may here from me if I don't get a reply from the seller

thanks Arno
You are welcome.
That was actually my second post, the original disappeared.
Compound that by typing with 3 fingers (I do have them all) and being dyslexic made canderson beat me by about 5 minutes.

No matter, it is he whom you really need.

Just so we're clear -- what are the first two characters of the serial number?
