TomTom start 42

Good afternoon All
It’s time to replace my old TomTom, I was thinking of getting the start 42, is that a decent device or do I need to be looking for something newer? I don’t really need anything to flash.

Start 42 was released in 2016 so it is not recent.
if you find one there is no problem to update the maps.

Do you depend upon custom POI support when you use your current TomTom Via?

If you buy anything more recent than a 520 or 620 (family names aka Supreme, Essential, Classic) released several years ago), you'll lose custom POI function. I'd recommend those rather than the older Start 42, which is a fair bit older, and you'll get 2X the amount of internal memory on those others (the 42 has only 8G, the others 16G). It's going to be easier to get traffic data on these more recent ones, too.
