If you look above, advice from someone is NOT to do this, in case you save an empty list, which MAY overwrite the restored list (which is older). If they merge the list or just blat the list with the restore, then no probem, but if it is "most recent wins" then they're gone.....

Side note, many years ago, I did something similar with a computer network, wiped the config on a switch and then plugged it in.
It proceeded to export the empty config to all other switches in the department network.
Oops.

ok, so as long as I don't try to create another list, restore Favs on my own, etc. the old data should be safe? thanks for explanation

What I've noticed is that even if you create a new favorites list, the favorites aren't saved.

The best thing to do is leave it alone and wait for TomTom to restore it.

One more thing I spotted (probably related because it's all about data sync) is that it takes a lot of time for the app to sync information about current traffic or closed roads. Yesterday there was quite a big crash on highway in my city and part of it was closed because of that, and closed section was visible in app even today, like an hour ago (no, the road wasn't closed for so long ;) ). Now I checked it again and that information was gone. Same with traffic jams - appear with quite a delay.
 
I have also lost all my places twice, I replaced most this morning but they went as well, in addition it keeps telling me my free trial has ended but I have a paid up repeat subscription until June 4th. I log out and back in, it works until closed then tells me the free trial has ended.

The free trial lasts 7 days; after that, you must purchase the app.

When did you purchase the app?
 
this seems to have happened on my actual tomtom device, yesterday i got to a location, went to 'recent destinations' and it was wiped, but everything else fine... then this morning i got to the same location as yesterday and everything wiped on the satnav, saved places, home and recent destinations

I've had same issue across my tom tom rider and apps on 2 phones
 
this isn't the first time either, last year i was on my way to Gibraltar on the bike i get into Spain from France, pull over for a break, turned off the nav app on my phone, and surprise app kept crashing, all tomtom support would comment was " delete maps and reinstall them as maybe corrupt, really !! like I'm going to be able to download new maps when I'm parked up on side of the road in middle of nowhere and no signal, might switch to Garmin if this carrys on
 
If your favorites and routes have already been deleted, there is no need to log out.

I’m a Hgv driver in the uk and had loads of my places saved for work and now all gone? What’s going on TomTom, I have the app and use go expert and use CarPlay screen in the truck, normally works fine, I saved a couple of places today and gone already. I’m going to garmin if not sorted and if TomTom read this forum why not have the decency to tell your customers who pay good money for your services. Can’t wait for what3 words to do a truck version

So are you saying my places that I had saved which don’t appear in plan.tomtom will miraculously come back?? How will customers be informed when issue resolved and why don’t you have the decency to email or put on your social media that you have a problem

When did you purchase the app?
At least five years ago from the play store, it has auto renewed ever since and I have had notification from the play store that it is going to do so for June 4th this year. When it said my free sample had expired I went to delete and reinstall the app and had a pop up say if I deleted the app from my device it would not delete my subscription and that I could use it on another device.
