Go Navigation App on an IPad

I am thinking of fitting an IPad in my car, and then using either TomTom Go or another navigation app on it.
Has anyone tried or done this, and what are their thoughts on it.

We use an iPad mini 5 & it's great. Unlike the previous version of TomTom there is no iPad specific version so it doesn't take advantage of the higher resolution. I suspect that it would look very blocky & ugly if used on a full size iPad as it's an iPhone app.
