TomTom Model(s)
RIDER 550 PRO
NO matter which order I try to contact my phone via bluetooth to tomtom, it doesnt import contacts or even give an option for mobile phone on the quick screen nor ability to point out speed traps - is this from tomtom updates? are these now safety features that dont allow you to answer the phone on the fly to your headset. Ive tried all the usual connect phone to headset first then tomtom then second bluetooth channel but nothing works Thanks in advance everyone!

Hi there @hipponax1973 -
What mobile phone are you using to try to import contacts/see who is calling/answer/end call/text facility on the Rider 550? If it’s an iPhone running iOS 13 onwards, pairing through the MyDrive app for those features no longer works.

so this is useless for iphones then? what i don’t get is there isn’t even an option to use a phone in the tomtom as there was in the 410. Is there a way to ask tomtom to address this? Sure as hell no way of getting apple to do the right thing

SOLVED! Bizarrely i assumed that the mydrive app was an issue - ive updated the iphone to 17.5.1 and have now connected the tomtom after a factory reset, by connecting with the mydrive app and its flawless - the little telephone has appeared and messages appear too - note for everytime you are going to go out on the bike you have to reconnect the tomtom via and it will display a second TOMTOM Bluetooth channel at the same time. Happy playing everyone!

Hopefully, this will be permanent - as in the past few attempts regarding stability, this connection only lasted temporarily. I will be very interested to hear further updates from your usage if all goes well. Good luck.

So theres an addendum here - the trick appears to be 1) to use the app for the initial connection after factory reset and deleting your previous bluetooth settings, and then 2) NEVER kill the mydrive app even if you turn off the tomtom for a week and come back to it as when you start the tomtom up again the double bluetooth channel kicks in and it works fine - if you kill the app then you have to manually reconnect as per the last post. If your wireless is switched on that will also sometime kill the bluetooth so i tend to do all of this once ive left the house andthe tomtom is only connected to phone data!

I think many of us have given up on the app and therefore not used it. Thats fine if you simply want phone data to populate your maps etc but no use for chatting etc. What will be interesting now is if you can also connect the headset to the tomtom in addition......

Hi @hipponax1973 -
I still have the MyDrive app on the iPhone, for sending a route or riding to a planned destination, but not linked through my Rider. My Sena headset is paired directly to the Rider and iPhone separately and is stable for traffic/calls/intercom.
I answer calls by saying “hello” or pressing the button on the Sena. Rarely get a call though. Please keep us updated if you have progress with connecting a headset and the MyDrive app combined successfully.
Safe Riding!

Here is one of a recent review from the Apple App Store regarding an attempt of successful pairing of the MyDrive app/Rider/comms system.
The user has stated that he is hopeful of a reliable connection (that means all links) and will update with the outcome (dated 29 April under Sort by Most Recent). In the meantime, I’m happy with my setup.

FURTHER UPDATE: the 2nd bluetooth connection disconnects if you leave it switched off too long and the little phone disappears from the screen - however after experimenting one of the tomtom bluetooth connection WILL connect, but the other has a toggle for sync contacts (see pics 3 and 4) on this and this needs to slid over again for the connections to all work again - think something we should feedback to tomtom again. PS these pics show that it IS possible to connect everything including the headset but for simplicity (plus once there are ? 4 BT connections to the TOMTOM it plays up a bit and doesnt show received calls) I have disconnected the headset from the tomtom, and simply have the headset to the phone and receive the rest on the TOMTOM. Hope this helps

further testing is a little frustrting as you have to quit and engage the mydrive app again - also i've noted that it wont always receive messages anymore, HOWEVER you can initiate calls from the screen all the time now
