Oh yes, that firmware is not great for FM transmitter use.
This is why I am at firmware 7.221
You can get it from oldboy: http://www.oldboy.me.uk/TomTomUpdates/index.html
Extract the 7.221 folder into your tomtom's root directory replace the files.
You should make a backup first.

Thanks a lot!! I'm d/ling it now. Not to be a pest, but can you walk me through the process of putting it on my TT? This is my first GPS & really don't want to screw it up. I will do a backup first.

No problem.
Extract the files into your tomtom's root directory using windows explorer.
You will replace all the files. Once the files are replaced, disconnect the unit and boot it up to check the firmware version.
