Wanted to update my TT. refuses to connect to TT mydrive connect. windows does not recognise it either. tried uninstalling mydrive connect and reinstalling to see if it would update drivers. did not work. How can I download drivers. Hard reset: turned TT on waited 30 seconds then tried to hold down the on/off button for 30 seconds but it just restarted. no black screen with white type. The TT is just over 2 years old but is only used on average about once a month

Thanks for any help anybody can give

A drum reset is holding the power button for about 20 seconds till you hear the drum sounds. Then let go. So try it again.

thanks finally got it to reset. white type on black screen. tapped 3 times and according to a video a spinning wheel should appear. no spinning wheel just turned on. It did not work anyway as it will still not connected to PC. windows 10. I also have a pc running windows 7 tried on that still no connection to pc. . Windows does not see it at all. No icon in "my computer" nothing showing in network adapters or usd hub. I think its possibly a driver problem. Thanks for trying to help

thanks bought a new cable charges ok. tried other flash drives in usb port all ok. tried uninstall tt my drive connect and reinstalling to see if it would load the drivers but no good.

Without trying to connect, what happens when you start MDC?

MDC opens fine and updated itself. Although it shows a small yellow icon saying "not connected" it also shows im logged in, the updates required and the icon to update but they are all greyed out. I assume it recognises my details from previous updates.

Updated my 18 year old TT GO520 using same PC and USB port with no problems. It did not have any satellite problems either. Picked up signals even in covered carport within seconds.

TT 135 Via from brand new has always been slow getting signals. Stuck it to bedroom window with clear view of the sky it showed up to 9 satellites, however when a route was input it was unable to receive any satellites.

Tried my My Linux Ubuntu OS and it recognised a USB had been input but obviously could not continue as TT does not support Linux. It said no compatible programme. This was the same PC, USB port and cable so would indicate that these work ok. looks like windows unable to recognise TT. so there is a missing link

Have tried all the TT help, instructions and videos but nothing worked Thanks for trying to help

Does it show a model number above the 'Not connected'.
What happens when you plug in the device at this state.
Does it display a model name?

looks like windows unable to recognise TT.
Let's try once more.
With the device disconnected but fully charged hold down the power button continuously After the inverse video diagnostic data screen one with spinning gears will show. Keep the button depressed until the 'connect to PC' screens comes up.
At that point let go, make the connection and follow the instruction after the red in the screen below is replaced with a green one.

Shows a photo of sat nav. above photo states Tomtom via 135 To the right hand side 4 updates available Beneath photo my devices. Click on my devices, opens new page, photo and serial number underneath. plus Select a device you want to manage. option to add a device.

I bought a new cable yesterday. worked perfectly charged battery to 100% Just reconnected to that cable and its not charging. Used another non TT cable and that charges but dont know if it will transfer data as basically its only a charging cable will let it charge to 100% then proceed as you advised. again thanks

Most of my TT cables have died and I have no problems with low cost cables.
Good luck on the recovery process.
I tried to take a picture when it gets green at the left but the flash went off.

After the inverse video diagnostic data screen one with spinning gears will show.

Got the inverse screen, continued holding button down for 90 seconds but no spinning gears or connect to pc screen TT My drive still showing not connected. Tried twice more holding button down for 2 minutes, same result

Will have another go later when battery back up to 100%

Repeat. It can take 2 to 5 minutes for the spinning gears to show.

If it does not proceed from the spinning gears to the connect screen show I'm at the end of my advice.
Hopefully canderson or dhn can help further.

using my data/charge cable from back up disk for my pc. Working ok as I tried them on several gadgets and they charge the TT fine

Tried what you said several times but same result however on the last occasion when I released the button while it the inverse screen was up it did not switch to normal TT screen but remained on black background /white type inverse screen. that was 6 minutes ago and its still on that screen. Its adjusting the time. last line on screen is
RTC Sat Jan 1 00:16:44 2000. Obviously a clock but 19 years out of date but is setting up the clock Now showing 18.00. Dont know if this makes a difference
