Help. I have tried everything to my my Tomtom working again. Last week I was looking to update my unit with some POI's. On rebooting the splash screen appeared and nothing more. So I have delved through this site looking for answers to no avail. I have checked the internal disc/card with file checker, formatted the unit, used clear flash, cleared my computer files and reinstalled tomtom home2, checked the USB cable. I have done everything I can find on this site only to end up back at a spash screen. Has it reached the end of its life?

If you connect to Home, can you use Operate my Unit? If so, add a favourite, delete one, edit one, it doesn't matter. Then disconnect properly from Home using the Device Disconnect icon.
Restart the device. Does it work better now?

If not, try a drum reset on the unit by holding the power button about 20 seconds till you hear the drum sounds unless your model has a dedicated reset hole.

I do have a reset hole and I have held the button until the drum role. I cannot add a favourite or delete one. I did try this as one of the options previously. One of my customers told me to try formatting it using XP instead of 8.1 as he has had formatting problems. I will try that next

Don't format ANYTHING unless/until you as SURE your map is backed up!

Well its fixed. I downloaded tomtom home2 to my xp machine. Did a format Fat32 and started from scratch. It now works fine.
Thanks for your input guys

I am not sure if my win 8 machine defaults to format in FAT32. I know my XP Machine does. That maybe the problem
