TomTom not turning on

Hello,

We have a TomTom one. It is only a little over a year old. It was working fine and then the other day when we went to plug it into the car charger, it will not turn on. No sounds and no pictures. We bought a new cable to see if that was the problem, but it still didn't work.

Does anyone think it could be the battery? If so, can we change it and are they expensive?

Thank you for your help.

I would think if you plugged it into the car's cigarette lighter it wouldn't matter if the GPS had a battery or not, as it would be working from the car's battery. Am I correct ? That would mean there is a problem with the GPS (maybe needs resetting).
The internal battery would be good to keep it in a holding state for a few days before shutting down, or for using without being plugged into the vehicle (on foot, etc).

When you connect it to the computer, does it turn on at all? What model of TomTom do you have?
