TomTom 6200 Question

Hi 😊

I’ve had my TomTom 6200 around 8 years now, regularly updated, the battery has been rubbish and the device won’t work without keeping it plugged in, but in the last 4 weeks it just keeps randomly restarting itself, I had a brand new battery fitted, used a few different USB cables, including the quote long original cable and I’ve factory reset it 5 times! Still randomly restarting itself!

Yesterday I went back to using the original mount and plugged it into my vehicle, but it still kept restarting, but then I noticed something! All the time it’s been restarting, it’s been plugged into this Spigen brand cigarette lighter adaptor 😳 I swapped it with this dual TomTom adapter and now fine, no restarting! why would this Spigen adapter cause the issue? Or maybe it’s just not been recharging my device properly? Even though it has the symbol on the sat nav saying it is charging on the screen, I want to charge my iPhone and the TomTom device at the same time (hence been using this Spigen adaptor)

Is there a ā€œdual socketā€ adaptor I can buy to charge my 6200 device via USB A supplied cable, but also has USB C on it to charge my iPhone 15 Pro Max at the same time?

It might be that your Spigen cigarette lighter adapter doesn't have enough power.
A GPS needs more than 2100 mA to operate.

Yes but if you look at the Spigen adaptor specs, it has more than that 🫣

If the GPS restarts with one charger but not another, there must be a problem somewhere.

It is possible the battery isn't charging properly; try charging it via a wall outlet and then test the Spigen charger again.

At one point, it was recommended to disable MyDrive synchronization on the device.
If you re-enable it to transfer a route, does the bug return?

Regarding the question: Is there a "dual-port" adapter that allows me to charge my 6200 device using the supplied USB-A cable while also featuring a USB-C port to simultaneously charge my iPhone 15 Pro Max?

USB-A to USB-C cables are available.

Haven’t tried turning off ā€œmy drive syncā€ I drove back 4 hours from a show with my band and the 6200 didn’t restart and worked flawlessly with that double USB A TomTom adaptor, but not with the Spigen adaptor, reading reviews on Amazon, a lot of these have failed… also noticed that using the 6200 and my other new GO EXPERT 7 PLUS in my other work vehicles, won’t always charge with the built in USB A and USB C sockets on those vehicles.. it’s like there isn’t enough power to charge the batteries in either devices, yet it will keep the unit working because the battery symbol says charging, yet when you unplug it after 2 hours, it instantly says batttery low on both these devices
