Hi,

Read here : "Yes, you will need to be connected to your phone to have traffic on your GPS
Traffic is for life, however the SIM card installed on your GPS is not for life."

Since the GO6200's SIM card was deactivated, I no longer receive traffic information except at home when I turn on the device with the router connected.

On my phone, I created a mobile hotspot and modem. I can connect to the phone's Wi-Fi... but after a few minutes, I get a message saying "Identification problem."

This doesn't seem to be related to the Wi-Fi connection itself.

Is a subscription to the Traffic Information service now mandatory, even though it used to be a lifetime subscription?

Thank you in advance.

Hi
Normally, the subscription is lifetime.

Maybe your phone automatically disables the hotspot when no device is connected? Check your phone's settings.

You clearly have a good subscription since it works with your home router. Your device (and TomTom) don't care how you get the data to the device. The issue is when using your phone, which if operating correctly, would give you exactly the same result as your home router.

Be sure that your provider includes Hot Spot service without a separate activation (and possible fee). It's possible to make the WiFi connection, but have no connection to the internet. You may need to contact them to confirm.

FYI - Latest Sony flagship won't put data via bluetooth to the 6200 only handfree.
I have a BT mifi which works without a battery so powers up on usb when my van starts. Cheap Lebara Sim a quid and it buts wifi in the van and I'm sorted.

Had you tried getting your Sony to deliver data via WiFi instead of BT?

Traffic information reception works perfectly on Wi-Fi on your phone.
However, in addition to Wi-Fi, mobile hotspot, and mobile data being enabled, it's essential not to select energy saving.
Many thanks for your expertise.

Too much messing with hotspot and read some drop out after so long.
Personal experience might be a better guide. Unless there's something specifically wrong with the Sony, there's no reason it should "drop out". My Samsungs never have, and I've switched exclusively to WiFi connections for all of my TT devices.
