TomTom Go 6200 not asking me whether I want to take a quicker route

Hello All
I have a TomTom Go 6200 and it must be about a couple of years now that it has stopped asking me whether I wanted to take a quicker route. Sometimes the time saved appears in blue on my screen which I don't know how to activate or other times it automatically takes the quicker route which then confuses me. I have ticked the relevant box in the settings to ask me if a quicker route is available but doesn't seem to make any difference.

Any ideas or suggestions would be helpful.

In the route planning settings you had to tick. do not ask if a faster route.
Solution settings route planning checked ask me so I can choose
