Go 520
Hi all

I have a tomtom 520 which I update fairly regularly. It seems the speed limits have not been updated since the end of the Pandemic. For example Many roads are still showing as 20's but are now back to the original 30 mph speed limit. There are other speed limits that have not been updated also. This is particularly the case in West Lothian.

Is anyone else in the same situation regarding out of date speed limits,

Dose anyone know if there is a fix or any plans to update the speed limits?

Also is this issue limited to Tomtom 520's or are other newer tomtom devices or app also behind with speed limits?

Many thanks

Rebus

You don't mention specifically last time you updated your maps. What map version are you running now? The most recent is 11.25.

That's where the speed limit data is kept. Issues can be reported at the site Willy shows.

Hi Canderson,

Thanks for your reply. I am currently running 'Europe' v1120.12102 (released 10/2023)

Might be worth checking 1125 to see if anything has improved.

I reported, via Mapshare, the removal of a temporary limit (imposed for water main work) on the Keswick Ambleside road in the Lake District last year and it is still showing as pending.
I suspect TT are not prepared to, either take one report as accurate, or check with the relevant authorities. Given it is a 30mph in the open countryside where the limit has now reverted to the standard 60mph I think users will ignore an obvious error and not even bother reporting it so it will be there for ever.

I can confirm that many of the Speed limits are still wrong after updating to the latest map as suggested.

One road as an example is the A89 passing Bathgate Railway Station is wrong. Its wrong for a large section i.e. a number of miles.

I hope tomtom adress these errors. It seems quite Brand Damaging otherwise. Given that the default map / satnav on my android phone has accurate speed limits which are adjusted to show the correct speed limit rapidly.

Going forward if in the fullness of time I am forced to upgrade to a tomtom satnav where I am required to pair with a smart phone to receive live services Then I wouldn't bother, I'd just use the satnav that comes with my android phone.... and I don't see the point installing a second satnav app that's inferior in terms of not updating speed limits. Surely this poor business choices.

I like to keep my phone away in my bag out of reach and enjoy using a stand alone satnav with live services while driving.
