My tomtom fails to connect to the Home software and when its unplugged from the Pc all i get is the flashing screen with an X.

ive tried resetting the device several times to no avail, i've also tried formatting the device and all it says is windows can not perform this operation.

now all i'm getting is whenever i right click on the device my computer just crashes and it says the E drive is corrupt.

i've also checked the flash memory and everything seems normal.

any help greatly appreciated.

When you connect the device to the computer, can you get this far:

Start-->Run-->cmd and in the box that opens up, chkdsk E: /f

yes nothing happened

Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]

C:\Documents and Settings\dell>chkdsk E: /f

Are you using the cable that came with the device and a usb port on the back of the computer?

When you do the chkdsk command, is the TomTom ACTUALLY drive E?

When you connect to the PC, can you still see the contents of the TT memory using Win Explorer?
