Hello,
probably this question might sound stupid but I was trying to buy a subscription for tomtom go expert (car subscription). from the website I can see only the "truck edition" does it mean the the old options are gone? including the family plan?

thank you

Hi
With a GO Expert app subscription, you have the option to choose between a car subscription or a truck subscription.

The family subscription is only available on iOS.

Hi,
yes I remember that in the past but I don't see this option on their website (or in the app) anymore.

best

What can't you find? It's the family subscription for iOS that you can't find.

Are you using Android or iOS?

on Android

on iOS

The links are the same between the car and truck versions.

The only difference is that for trucks, you have to select and pay a higher subscription fee.

I'm using iOS. I've asked to the customer service and I got this answer (maybe it can be useful for other users as well):

"Please note that the Car subscription is no longer available as a separate option on the website. Currently, only the Truck subscription is offered, as it includes both car and truck vehicle profiles within the same subscription.
This means that if you purchase the Truck subscription, you will still be able to use the car profile as well."

and this is what I see also in the app.

🤔

So for TomTom, you have to buy the truck subscription for €99 to get the car option which was €19.99?

I don't know what to say 😁 that's why I've posted this question in case somebody else faced the same issue

I don't understand TomTom's response.

I checked my subscription account and I do have the option to subscribe for a car or truck.

The only difference is that I use Android, not iOS.

@Bauble7596
in the iOS Go Expert app, I see car subscriptions available. It may not be available on the website, but it is within the app itself.

You may well see both a truck and legacy car subscription expiration date, but when your car subscription ends, it will not be renewable. Only the truck version is being supported now and in the future. The 'car' version of the old TomTom GO app is discontinued.

It is, of course, possible to use the truck version for passenger cars with the correct configuration.

My subscription expires on August 5, 2026. I will check on July 5, 2026, to see if it has been renewed.

On my Google account, the next expiration date is set for August 6, 2026.

I will revisit this issue in July.

Is it possible that new customers cannot subscribe to the GO Expert app for car-only use?

That's correct.
As it stands, my own subsription shows expiry of 7/6/26 for car, and 2/4/27 for truck. There used to be two separate applications where there is now just the one (Expert). Because I'm a beta tester I see two subscriptions until car expires.

The truck subscription includes car and replaces the original car subscription.

If an end-user upgrades from car to truck, the remainder for car is credited on a pro rated basis.

This is a very bad idea on TomTom's part.

If TomTom removes the car subscription for GO Expert, many people won't renew their subscriptions.

I don't own a truck and I won't buy one.

I also don't think customers will be willing to pay €90 per year for car navigation.

The subscription is auto-renewing. If purchased in the App Store, Apple send an email one month before renewal.

Don't misunderstand. The Go Expert app can handle a truck or a car. Under Settings / Vehicle Profile, you can specify Vehicle Type as either one. If you specify Car, then things like the truck road restrictions in the map are ignored. However, as you say, there is a charge, it was my understanding that it was €62.99 (or US$89.99) for 12 months less 30% for new subscribers.

That said, for the subscription, you get the app, real time traffic, map updates, speed camera alerts, fuel prices, parking availability, ev charging locations and weather-along-route. Not all countries have all of those features, but many do.
