RDS-TMC Traffic in San Francisco

Can anyone confirm that RDS-TMC traffic works in San Francisco? I just bought a receiver, and my device tells me that there is no traffic info available.

Thanks.

Now is a good time to test this functionality.

I plugged my unit into my car. Choose navigate over the Bay Bridge to IKEA from Pacifica. After about a minute, the live traffic started showing up. Then a computer voice said the traffic delay was 6 minutes and the delay was not enough to re-route me to another road.

So yes it works on my 540TM.

Notice the green colored route until you hit the city in the area of the bridge. I liked the voice warning too.

How should this look on a 140S?

Thanks; that's great to know.

I just did the same. I'm located in SF and planned a route to Ikea as well. I am indoors, but I have the usb charger/receiver connected to my 140S. It is fully charged. I'm receiving satellite for the gps. I'm in a wood frame building where I should be able to receive radio signals, etc.

I assume that this should pick up the traffic. So far, I see no indication of any traffic information. What should I see on a 140S. I note that the TomTom manuals are quite generic; they cover a number of devices. However, the manual that came with my unit indicated that it should work with traffic. I also phoned TomTom and asked.

I'll attach photos like you. It seems like I can only do one image at a time.

More pics. I also notice that "traffic" remains a grayed out option. Is there something further that I need to do in order to activate traffic?

p.s. figured out how to add two attachments (one at a time).

It does not work that way.

The car charger must be plugged into your car to power the receiver and THEN send the info to your device. You will have to sit in your with it plugged in to validate it operates.

---------------

It would be fun to sit on the couch and watch live traffic buy that is not the way TT designed it. It has to be plugged into the cig lighter.

OK, I will try again later.

However, I did try in my car earlier today (I mentioned that on a different thread, sorry) and did not receive traffic info nor any indication that traffic info was available. Yes, it was plugged in to the car and the car was running. So, I don't hold out hope.

A post on a different thread leads me to believe that the receiver may not be compatible with my device. I think that there is only one receiver available these days, so that would be a bummer.

Here is the manual for your device. They have a special chapter on the functionality.

Sorry, I don't see any attachment. Did it fail to attach?

I would be quite interested in seeing a manual for the 140S. TomTom only shows me a generic TomTom One/XL/XXL manual.

Thank you.

Although the title seemed promising, this seems like a slightly different version of the manual that I already have. Unfortunately, it makes no specific mention of the 140S in terms of noting if the receiver would be different from that used by the 335T, for example.

BTW, what is the model number of the receiver that works with your device? I purchased the 4UUC1 (reading the number off the device itself).

The model number is 4UUC1B (4UUC.001.01B) it has an the oval receiver about 8 inches from the mini-usb side.

Looks exactly like this except TT does not show the product# for this picture.
- Accessories - TomTom

My number is the same (both cases) except without the 'B' at the end. Maybe someone can explain what the difference would be.

Mine looks like the picture as well.

In another thread, a different user posted a photo of another one that looks similar, but has a different number (beginning with a 5 or a 9). That was something he purchased from Europe.

The combo car charger/rds-tmc antenna works in both North America and Europe. Any other rds-tmc antennas are continent specific.

Have you updated to app 9.053 on the ONE 140? You need that app to recognize the receiver.
