iPod noise question

I have the 730, and have used the iPod cable kit to connect to it. It works fine, except that with my car stereo, there is an audible high pitched whining sound (does not change in pitch with engine acceleration) that is very noticable during quieter parts of songs.

I noticed that I can greatly minimze this sound only by turning the brightness on the TT screen all the way down, which obviously is not very convienient.

Has anyone else encountered this, and/or know how I can remedy it?

Thanks.

Do you have the car charger plugged in? If so, disconnect it.

I am assuming that you mean the TT charger. I don't think that I have tried it without it plugged in, so I will try that.

Is this a known problem? I assumed that it would be normal to power/charge the TT while driving and using the iPod.

Thanks...

It is normal to have it plugged in but it will create that noise. You will need to purchase ground loop that will cancel that. I purchased one for $9 on ebay.
