Home Update

You may wish to stay there. It seems that indeed there are faulty errors being shown in the new version.

I didn't have any problem, in fact, I was shocked at how well the download and installation went. I did a backup before I upgraded of course.

Problem with 2.8.0.1019

Yes, I took the update for the Mac and am indeed having problems.

With old app, I connected to my device fine and performed updates. After the update to HOME, I started getting errors.

Any advice? I don't see a way to go back.

There error stack looks like this each time:

Look here:
C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Downloads\complete\maps\

Do you see a map with the same name and version (835) that is mentioned in the error? And, if so, is that map from a previous unit or is it a previous map for the current unit. In other words, is the 835 map NOT the correct map you have on your unit?

If so, move that entire map folder from the location noted to a different folder on your computer using Finder.

Restart Home. And see if the error goes away. If it appears with a different map version mentioned, do the same with that one.

You can also just 'X' the error every time it appears. Annoying to do so but the functionality of updating should continue properly. It is a bug in the new version of Home in that for some reason, it 'chokes' when seeing a map in that folder location that should not be referenced.

The problem has been reported to TomTom.

Thanks for the advice.

I'm on a Mac, so the directory location will be different. I'll have to figure out where, unless you know off hand.

Open Home. Tools-->Home Preferences-->Folders

It'll show you where the downloads are going on your Mac.

Found it. The file names do not include the Map number. I do recall that 835 was the last map that I downloaded and installed (when I bought the unit). I recall that I needed to make room for it by removing some unused voices, etc.

How do you recommend that I determine the version? I did confirm that Home believes it is 835.

The previous version of Home worked fine, it was only after the install.

BTW, you mentioned that the bug has been reported. Where you referring to a particular bug report? If so, is it publicly viewable?

If you click on 'more info' beside the map in the download\map folder, it'll show you the version.

I have access to a tomtom site that is not available to the public.

OK, I'm getting the error, too. On my computer, I have maps 845.2645, 850.2781, 855.2884, 860.3101 saved. 860.3101 is the active one. The error references 845.2645, but Home can't see it as on the computer, even though Win explorer does.

If you move the 845 map to another folder, the error may cease. If it then references the 850 map, do the same with it.

Sorry, I meant to inlcude in my previous post. I did that, with each one of the old ones and still get the error referencing 845 each time.

Why don't you try renaming your entire tomtom\download folder to tomtom\downloadold. HOME traverses the entire folder and any corrupt file could confuse HOME.
