I have no idea of the model of Tomtom I have in my Toyota Aygo [2011] so don't know which charging cable to order. Can anyone help, please?

Lindy

Welcome to TomTom Forums.
Pardon my ignorance but I do not know the Toyota Aygo.
A Google search does not give an answer but offers all kinds of advice to install after market devices.
A built-in device should not require a charging cable as it would be wired in to the vehicles electrics.

Can you explain a little as to what you have and what you are trying to do. (Add a picture)

Thank you for your reply. My Tomtom needs updating but I don't have a USB cable in order to attach the device to my laptop. I have no idea as to the model of the Tomtom. I am [I hope] attaching pictures but don't know how helpful they'll be. I have no other information about it.

Since it is a TomTom unit 2011 or older I suspect it needs a USB to Mini USB cable.
It should look like this https://tinyurl.com/22buurn6
The attachment shows the plug in my 2008 G0 930 desk charger.
Check with Google; it wouldn't allow me to use GB or UK today, reverted to CA.

Yes, the serial number gives us the information.
It was known by the in-house name Eclipse II. Was found on a Toyota Aygo. I believe it runs off the internal SD card. That last bit is what's important for updates. Can you locate the SD card slot on your device? Do you have an SD card reader for your PC?

Firstly, to Arno. Thank you for the information about the cable. I have ordered one from Amazon UK.

To Canderson - to begin with, I am not very tech savvy. I have found, to my surprise, that there is a SD in the device. I have a slot for it on my laptop but when I inserted it I had the option either to store pictures on it or never to do that. I clicked on the latter and the pop up panel disappeared. Can't get it to come back again for another look. Since I have ordered a cable which I hope will connect the device to my laptop, perhaps I will have more luck that way.

Your help in this, both of you, is much appreciated.

Was waiting for you to jump in here, canderson, you seem to be the only one with branded TomTom devices.
Thank you.

I hope you made sure that there is a socket for that cable on your unit. If not, cancel the Amazon order.

Wait for canderson to reply.
You could put the SD card into you PC and use Explorer (Finder for MAC) to see if it shows up as a new Drive letter like D:, E:, etc.
Except for looking, do not do anything else with the card for now.

To Arno

If by 'the unit' you mean the Tomtom itself, then, yes, it has a socket and on Amazon the cable looks like the small end will fit it. It should come tomorrow, so I will find out soon enough. Will also wait for Canderson to get back to me. I hope this isn't causing you too much inconvenience.

Not to worry, Lindy, you are very welcome.

You will want to have TomTom Home software running when you insert the SD card. That, among other things, is the "updater".

BEFORE YOU DO THE DEED, be sure to copy the entire content of your SD card to a folder on your PC for safekeeping.

Then, make sure you have a copy of Home. Don't know if you have Mac or PC, so here's the generic link >> https://help.tomtom.com/hc/en-us/ar...ftware-on-your-navigation-device-TomTom-HOME-

Note the two red bars there on the 1st page that provide for either type of computer.

Hi Arno and Canderson Thought you should know that I seem to have updated my Tomtom using the cable I ordered and gone through all the steps. I've only used the satnav briefly so far, so am not sure of the extent of the update and what it will do for me. I did manage to delete some stuff on the SD card but it was from the previous owner and what I had put on there was inadvertent on my part and could be removed.
My next problem is getting the voice to be louder; it was very loud for a while but now can barely be heard. Will go to my local garage to see what can be done.
Anyway, thank you both for the help and guidance you gave me. I had no idea of the forum's existence but am very grateful to have done so. All the best,
Lindy
