VIA 1405TM Not Charging. Shutting down.

I realize that this unit is pretty old however it has been extremely reliable until recently. Actually, since my last map update. I get a "Low Battery" notice and it shuts down. Also, when connected to my computer, it looses the connection. When it does stay on ,or a short while when driving, the Traffic Receiver is not working. To correct all this, I just replaced the battery and purchased a new USB cable (with Traffic sensor) but the problem still exists. It seems there is a solution but I don't know what it may be or where to look. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated!

More than that. About 4 hours. Did I mention that my Traffic monitor (or whatever it"s called) stopped working also. Could this (these) problem(s) be the result of corrupt data received when I updated (down loaded) a new map. I've done this many times over the past years but never had a problem. Coincidence?
