TomTom Model(s)
Campervan and Caravan Sat Nav GO Camper Max 2nd Premium Pack 7" screen
After following a couple of iffy roads suggested by the TomTom I decided to plan my route using plan tomtom.com in advance so I could be confident of the journey. I synced this with the device and selected it. I then set off. To my surprise I found that although the route was displayed on the screen the device did not announce turns and the location icon would run off the screen unless I bothered to scroll the screen manually. Is this normal or am I making a mistake? If normal then it seems pointless planning a route in advance.
Thanks for any suggestions.

I had a similar problem. I recorded a far easier route using my TomTom record function. I set it to follow the recorded route but it ignores it and follows the route set as if I had just plugged in the destination as usual

I too, was having problems. When you have selected your journey... press Re-Centre on screen, that should work as it did for me. Been having problems doing routes on route planner, sync it with the sat nav and does not show. I do
the routes on the sat nav now, and save, that works.

You may have to put in more waypoints, Tomtom has a habit of taking you down narrow lanes to save you 10 seconds on your journey, just one of its little foibles.

I tend to put waypoints into my journey plans to keep me on track!

Sounds like that's a major negative. I wanted to plan a route through France offline that I had put together online, sync it and then follow it exactly. To add extra waypoints is a work-around but kind of defeats the object of offline planning. I was expecting better for my £300.

So I plan my route but can't re-centre on it if the sat-nav decides on a diferent route from one point to another.

It is possible that your GPS settings are not correct compared to your route calculated on plan-tomtom.

I assumed it was more a case of my offline planned route not being not being a match for TomTom's fastest, shortest or most economical offerings. I just want my sat nav to follow and centre on my offline synced route and it won't do that but thanks for the suggestion.

If you want to follow a planed route exactly then you might be better using a "Track" rather than a route.
