Guys, I really want to thank you for sticking with this for so long.
You are not going to believe this but tonight I connected to download the QuickGPSFix as usual and thought I'd give it another go.... and it worked first time!!!
I don't know why and I don't know how but it came up with the same message, that it needed to download a file to continue - as usual, I accepted but this time the download actually began and completed and I can now "Operate my go" at last!!!
I wish I could add something to help anyone else in the future. I suppose all I can say is keep trying and maybe it might "just work" for you to.
