Cannot activate XXL 55OTM

I just bought an XXL 550TM. I installed the TomTom Home software and proceeded to activate it. When I enter the activation code and click next, i get an "Invalid XML error" from the TomTom registration server. I've tried on both WIn XP and 7 machines.

Has anybody run into the same problem?

Were you putting in the proper number?

Call customer support tomorrow at 866-486-6866 to get it sorted. Other with Lifetime maps or Traffic sometimes are experiencing this same issue.

of course I am putting in the right number, that's one of the first things I checked.
