540TM will not start

I hooked up my new 540TM that I received as a gift to my computer and did the initial set up. I turned the unit off and charged it now it will not start. I have tried to reset it by holding the power button but it does not work. Also I have tried to call the support number but the call will not go through.
 
Make an Explorer, not Home, backup of your unit's contents.

Then format the unit. Don't use quickformat. Restore the backup. See if that helps. And make sure NOT to disconnect the unit from the computer without using the Universal Hardware Disconnect icon.
