XP will not recognize my device

I have a GO 2450 and want to update.
Neither app from TOMTOM will recognize my device. I have tried this over 2 different PCs running XP sp3. My device is never detected when I go to SYSTEMS/HARDWARE/DISK DRIVES. My device shows the little PC icon when it is attached to the USB.
I am leaving for vacation and would like to update my maps but alas I guess this will not happen

The Go 2X models do NOT show as external drives on your computer since the user has no access to the file system on the model.

It should show under network connections.

Also, you should be using MyTomTom (tomtom.com/getstarted), not Home 2 with that model.

Make sure you log into MyTomTom with a different email address than one you may have used for a previous unit.

And, call CS at 866-486-6866 to help sort out the problem.

(What map do you have on the unit? 870 is the current one)
