my computer does not recognize my device

First---computer savvy I am not--just want to update maps on my XL but my computer does not recognize my device--what can I do? Thanks

Use the cable that came with your device. Use a usb port on the back of the computer, not the front. Reset the unit by holding the power button about 15 seconds till you hear the drum sounds unless your model has a dedicated reset hole on the bottom.
