computer doesn`t recognise my tomtom

Hi All,
I have a tomtom go 940 live but when I place it on its dock and plug it into my laptop to run updates my laptop says no device detected, I have tried all sorts without success can anyone explain a remedy please.

Could be unit issue, could be USB issue, could be a lot of things.

Will have to recommend that you reset the unit. Long (20 sec or so) press on the power button until you hear drums, then let off quickly.

If that doesn't help, it's not one of those situations where we can simply suggest another cable. That one is mounted hard to the dock.

I've heard many times (and seen personally) situations where front USB ports on a PC start to misbehave. There's no analog for this on a notebook or netbook, but I guess we should ask if other USB devices DO show up.
