Will I lose traffic reports etc when the 3G net vanishes? As I understood - contact with TomTom support -- I have to connect my unit to a smartphone to get properly connected. Anyone knows...?

Yes, that's right you will need to connect your GPS to a smartphone to continue receiving traffic.

Thanks for quick reply!
What happens when abroad? Will i have a cost or a data limit? I figure I have to use Rooming?
And what about newer devices, do they have 4G connection? Any device similar to my Go Pemium (as I so far have been fully satisfied with...)

Abroad you will have additional costs.

New GPS devices do not have 4G; you must connect them to a smartphone to receive traffic.

Thanks again!

And when beeing connected to someone who (obviously) knows:

When connected Device–iPhone, do I need to manually connect to a specific operator? In Sweden or when roaming abroad? Or is it just to connect from Device to my iPhone/smartphone, lean back and the technique do the rest? Traffic, queues, voice messages, alternative roads etc

Abroad, you remain connected to your telephone operator; it is up to you to find out whether your plan is functional abroad.

Within the European Union there should be no additional costs. Your provider should have preferred partner networks abroad. There's nothing I need to do if for example I drive from the Netherlands into Germany. The UK may by now no longer participate in these EU agreements.

I don't see any point at all in having a tomtom that needs to be connected to a smartphone to receive live traffic. You may as well use Google maps or waze. The while point of a live tomtom is for those who don't have & want a smartphone.

Not much choice now, all new Tomtom GPS no longer have a SIM card.

Tomtom does not want to invest in 4G or 5G cards, especially since in a few years Tomtom will no longer sell GPS as is already the case in the United States and Canada.

That was some bad news, but Thanks...
What about other marks, e.g. Garmin?
Anyone knows...?

Little mistake here: GO Premium will just continue to work. In Switzerland you'd have to use smartphone connectivity since there 2G has been shut down.

Will tomtom ever come out with 4g sim devices?
When the GO Expert was released, a new GO with a 4G SIM was planned but there was a crisis over the semiconductor shortage so the project was canceled.

Now all GPS devices come without a SIM card.
