Topo features on maps

I have two TomToms that I use, one each in my truck and in my car. I travel alot between San Diego and New Mexico. The standard TomTom maps seem very topo feature poor. There are no mountains, hills, rivers...just the occasional railroad and pond. Are there more feature rich maps I can buy to enhance or replace the standard maps? Is there a setting I need to change to get more? It seems that I had a lot more geographical features on the maps of another brand GPS I had. What I have now is basically the road I am on and cross roads at exits. It seems very sparse. Am I missing something, or is this pretty much just the way it is?

thanks....

TomToms don't have much in the way, if anything, of topo markings since all are on road devices.

Garmins, on the other hand, do have topo rich models.

Some of the becker units have 3D rendered maps as does the Garmin 3790T.

TomTom have never moved beyond what I call 2,5D on their mapping displays - Mike
