Tomtom won't start

You don't use MyDrive for that model, you use Home 2.

If yours is a 530 form the 2008 era you must use HOME, not MyDrive Connect.

after installing tomtom2 i get this and doesnt open

i uninstalled the 2.6 version for this earlier version

but only get this message on everything i try the tomtom is on
so now i suspect the tomtom to be knackered.

Completely remove Home 2 using the FREEWARE version of Revo Uninstaller. Get it here:
http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html

Get a fresh version at tomtom.com/getstarted and install.

Try again.

that worked for the install of home 2.6 thank you. but still getting this ?

Press and hold the reset button in the bottom of your 530 (gently, with a paperclip or similar) while the device is connected. Any change?
If not, let's talk cables. I doubt after all these years you're using the original TomTom cable, but if you have another with the right (USB mini-B) connector, try swapping cables.
If not, let's talk ports. Do you have other devices that work in the USB port that you are using for the cable with your 530?

pressed the reset can hear the dismount noise from pc but nothing else just goes to tomtom logo
cables are new all looks and seems ok
as for ports i just noticed this
