I've tried searching but i guess either i'm stupid or i just plain suck at it, but....
how do you tell what version you have??
do sdhc cards work in any tomtom ones?

It's not that intuitive......

touch the satellite bars on your unit. That will show the version number of the firmware on your unit. Touch the version number. You get a new screen showing the Map and version number of the map being utilized at that moment by the unit.

do NOT rely on any information shown in Tomtom Home......known software bug: shows out of date version numbers.
