tomtom one 3rd install question

I just bought a TT one 3rd edition, and set it up in my van. Prior to this I was using a friends Garmin unit that would power up and down with the ignition. It was also plugged into the cigarette lighter, the same as my tom tom.

Any idea how I can setup my tom tom to do the same? The constant turning it on and off s annoying, especially when you are running around town with many quick stops.

Thanks in advance for your help.

If you leave the unit plugged in all the time, there is an option somewhere that says something like "turn unit off if power is discontinued" Sorry, but I cannot remember exactly where that is.

On a side note, is there somewhere on the forum that has all the menu options is something like a directory tree or something? That might be a good sticky to help people find the options. I know I am a graphical learner. Something to look into maybe.

In Preferences, make sure you have 'Display all menu options' activated. Then look for 'Battery saving preferences'. You will probably want to leave it at 'Never turn off screen'. Press 'Done' and there is a box 'Switch off when external power is lost'.

I haven't seen an option for turning the unit on automatically, though.

I don't think this is offered on the 3rd edition. At least I can't find it on mine.

There is Auto "Off" but not Auto "ON". I emailed TT support last night regarding this issue. Hopefully if we can get enough people to complain, TT will come out with a firmware that will enable the AUTO On/Off feature.
