I have a difficult time locating my GPS signal "sometimes". I recently downloaded the latest software and GPS quick fix and it seems to have gotten worse. The other day I drove 20 minutes and it still said no GPS
signal. Then when I got off my exit, it came back to life. Any suggestions?
Sometimes it would take a a minute or two which was frustrating but
I can accept that. This is way too long..

Here's a way to get the gps fix without using home............

go to

http://home.tomtom.com/download/Ephemeris.cab?type=ephemeris&eeProvider=global Locate&devicecode=XXXXXXXXXX"

replace the XXX's with your device code....

and download the file. it's a windows cabinet file so you need a file manager that can extract from a .cab file. I use total commander. http://www.ghisler.com/

copy the files into your ephem folder on the tomtom. it's located inside your map folder. you now have the latest gps fix.

Some suggest a remedy is to sit in your driveway or other unobstructed area for about 5 minutes till the satellites lock on. It takes much longer for the unit to get a satellite signal if ou are moving.

I was in the mountains this past weekend and for some reason my One XL lost Sat signal, restarted, and wouldn't connect again. I left it on for two days with no luck, all it would do is find around 9 Sats, but never get over 40 signal strength. I did a reset on it and update on the computer today, and still nothing. Worst part is I like the unit, and just bought the updated maps, but I've only had it two weeks and this happens.
