Tomtom one xl sd card problems

hi everyone, i hope someone can help as im having no luck with tomtom. Had a one xl worked fine with a 8gb sd card. Had all my maps and updates on it, along with truck routes and bridge information. Had a few problems with power supply, battery wouldnt charge and now wont even power up. So bought a reconditioned one xl off amazon. Assigned it to my tomtom account and introduced it to my sd card. It wont except the card and keeps telling me to remove it. Ive tried a few things that the forum suggests, including telling the device to use sd card rather than internal storage, but it wont let me change. The one xl works ok without the sd card, but i really need the truck info as i use it for work. Any ideas please. Big dog

I'm surprised your older device used a 8 gb card. Did you get that device from a retail outlet or someplace like eBay? Normally, such a device would need hacked software to recognize the card.

Hi, it came from an amazon seller, sold as a truck sat nav .

Yeah, probably hacked software and map. Think that's why the reconditioned one with the proper software doesn't recognize an 8 gb sized card.

That said, I 'think' the model could take a 4 gb SD (not sdhc) card. If you can find one, everything needs to go on it: application and maps. Worth a try, I guess......

Maybe not, as I don't think there was the specialised truck version, the OP needs.
