start 50
Please help, I have start 50 with lifetime maps. device is new, i wanted to update maps but needed update device first, after update maps gone. how to get maps back. device is recognized only with mydrive connect. cant find device in my explorer. using windos 10. please help.

Your START 50 model isn't seen by the computer as an external storage device (hence can't see with explorer), it's seen as a NIC device (little micro server). Some magic software is converting the logical USB connection to a logical TCP connection.

When you connect device and MDC comes up, what does it report for "MY MAPS" when you select the "MY CONTENT" tab?

No reason you will need to buy maps again, but we need to get this fixed.
Trying again.
Are you saying that when you connect the unit and bring up MyDrive Connect, look at MY CONTENT and then MY MAPS, there is nothing there?
We NEED to sort out what the system thinks is happening before we can move forward.

Appears that you two cross-posted, and that the OP's maps magically reappeared.

What I'd still like to know what MyDrive was saying about maps during his 'outage'.

under My maps just line and nothing else, it was just some poi about 3mb and they are just for sale. and nothing else was there. yesterday there was sudenly maps update, and now works.

Interesting. To be clear, did you need to download new maps using MDC, or did the maps just reappear on the unit without a download/install cycle?

Appreciate that update. It sounds as though there had been some sort of full map update attempted during what you originally described as a firmware update (I think) .... "i wanted to update maps but needed update device first". Makes me think that map update wasn't successfully deselected in MDC when working the original firmware update.

Sure glad you got it sorted, though, even if it was magically!
