Hi there, I've just picked up my tomtom one. I've got the thing up and running but what do I do with the plastic product code card? The manual etc makes no reference to it? Why do I need it? Should I keep the number on there confidential etc?

Cheers

Leon

Keep the card. The numbers/letters on the card are a code that indicates what maps you have and ties it (I believe) to your unit. I was asked for the code when upgrading my maps from tech support. Hang on to it and I would NOT give it out to the general public.

I may be mistaken but pretty sure this is what it is for. Another note...you should have a code for European maps and American maps on it.

I think TomTom could eliminate a lot of confusion if they named it the 'map code', rather than using the ambiguous word 'product'.

You may never need it, but if you, say, wish to use a new SD card, you may be asked to activate the map. And to do this, this code is essential.

Keep the card in a safe place.
