Hi
Can someone please explain how my lifetime traffic subscription has expired on my GO5000 satnav.
It was working fine last month, now TT wants to start charging me a monthly subscription for something I have already paid for.???

Actually. No you don't. You need to go in to your settings and the About section of your device. Then uncheck the Share information box. Then tick it and it will all start working again. I had this exact same problem with my Pro 6250 3 weeks ago,

@Gazza666
If you don't 'share' your location information, you won't get any traffic data. TomTom's server only sends data relevant to your area or route, not traffic for the entire world - and it needs to know where you are and where you're going to do that.

Yes I know that. I'm just saying what I did with my 6250 pro when the traffic stopped working.
I had a software update a few weeks ago and it seemed to have started then for me. But all is ok now.

OP, did you get to the bottom of this, ? Asking because my GO6000 did exactly the same yesterday, lifetime maps and traffic, but the traffic expired 7th July, only found out yesterday when I came to use the satnav

As written in the message above, have you checked in the settings that information sharing is enabled?

My Go 5000 cancelled my Lifetime traffic ten years to the day after I purchased it. It took a while but I finally got to a support agent and it took him less than a minute to reinstate it.

Tom tom, mine did the same, tom tom give you the runaround then tell you your built in sim card doesn't support the new system, I believe if enough of us got together and sort legal advice I'm sure we could help tom tom lose sales hand over fist personally I think they have breached the terms and conditions of giving us lifetime map updates and traffic and speed cameras, then to suddenly, without notice withdraw it, I have asked tom tom fir my £359 back that i paid for the useless pile of junk that they I bought in good faith, legally I don't think they are allowed to just stop the services that alot of us have paid fir in advance..

@wayne mclachlan

I don't see any problem.

Lifetime maps and speed cameras are assigned 10 years on the device, this is the maximum lifespan of a Tomtom device.

If your device reaches 10 years, you should contact Tomtom support to extend the map update service

At no time has tom tom said there is a life expectancy of the device mine said traffic and cameras until 2028, so clearly not 10 years old..tom tom are stealing from the end user, typically most will fall for this, I said before if a few of us got together, it might get reinstated..

If in 2028 your GO still works, contact Tomtom customer service so that they extend the traffic and radar services.

I don't know if you noticed, you are on a user forum so at no time are we in contact with Tomtom.

My 6200 recently logged itself out & lost traffic information. Logging back in did not fix the traffic issue.
In the 'Privacy' section (*), I moved the 2 privacy sharing sliders left (turn off) & then back to the right (turn on).
(I did not turn off the 'Save routes' slider)

All fixed.

Hope this helps anyone with the same problem

* Privacy => Settings / system / your information & privacy
On the 6200 I did not see an information sharing slider in 'About'

The traffic updates on my GO 6000 became inactive although the device has lifetime map and traffic updates. I tried to change the privacy setting without success and then raised a support request with TomTom who resolved the issue and it is now back working.

Basically reactivated the service.

Below is the response from TomTom support:
“Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support.

As I can understand that the TomTom Traffic services present on your device as a embedded services are displayed as expired and you are not able to utilize the same. Please be assured I will try my best to assist with this.

On checking the device promotions I can confirm that you are bonded to get Free Map of Europe updates and TomTom Traffic services Europe when the device was purchased.

I have reactivated the TomTom Traffic services according to your wish on your TomTom GO 6000 device. I request you to please perform a soft reset on your device and check the services on road.

Here's how you can perform a soft reset on your device:

1. Turn off your device with the help of the power button
2. Press and hold the Power button until you hear a drum rolling sound.

Kindly check the services after you perform the above steps.”

Hope that helps.
