Tom Tom Go Discover Limited Edition
I am very frustrated! After deciding to upgrade from my trusty old Tom Tom Sat Nav, I have bought the Go Discover Limited Edition, and it doesn't seem to offer the option of reading out road names and road sign information, or even refreshing the voice instruction just before a junction. All these things were on my old £99 version from a few years back, so is it just me, or have I been fooled by the special offer price?

Are you using the same voice on both devices?
The new one only offers two uk English voices, Tim and Jane, neither are the same as on my old device. Does that make a difference?

You've got the wrong voice selected there. Tim and Jane are 'recorded' voices for the Discover. You need to select a 'Computer' voice that does text to speech.
If you'll go to Settings/Sound/Voices, see if you spot Serena there. She'll be happy to pronounce street names and the like for you.

If for whatever reason Serena is out of the building, connect your device with MyDrive. Then select the 'MY CONTENT' tab up at the top, and scroll down for 'MY VOICES', and click on 'My Language'. You'll find Serena there. Any of the voices that are in the neighborhood of 60MB are computer voices. Those in the 600KB~2MB are recorded voices.

Thanks for both of these replies. Brilliant, I'm sorted, and happily back to Serena! I'm now looking forward to using the new TomTom.

Was Serena resident, or did you have to send a digital Uber to go fetch her?

No Uber required! The voice was in Computer voices, as suggested, I just hadn't explored far enough.
