How To Change Bootloader in TomTom

FWIW:

The TomTom code will not permit a downward version change to the bootloader simply by placing a new 'system' file on the device. The device inspects current bootloader version to that of any 'discovered' 'system' file, and replaces the bootloader ONLY if the 'discovered' version is later than the one that is currently installed.

One must also exercise care in installing any bootloader that did NOT accompany a firmware upgrade. Not all bootloader/firmware versions are compatible.
