TomTom Model(s)
Rider 550
Hi, I have had a TomTom Rider 550 for a couple of years but havent used it in the last 6 months.
I am planning a trip and so want to get the android mobile phone and Rider 550 talking.
I installed Mydrive on the phone and used the scan code function to connect to the android mobile and all looked good
(Bluetooth on android phone says connected to TomTom Rider, TomTom says; Traffic CONNECTED, MyDrive CONNECTED, Bluetooth CONNECTED, Wifi CONNECTED)
But I dont seem to be getting any actual traffic info when I go out on a ride?

Trying to troubleshoot the issue so went into Bluetooth on the TomTom by touching the Bluetooth Connected and it shows Your Device: TomTom Rider 550 paired device Android CONNECTED, touching Android Connected and it shows Data for Traffic & other services "Unable to Connect" Smartphone messages "CONNECTED", See who is calling "CONNECTED"

How do I fix this issue?

Thanks in advance for any help

If the problem is recent it may be a server problem so wait a bit.

Maybe factory resetting the device and reconnecting your phone can fix the problem.

Thanks, I'll wait a bit in case its the server.

I've just completely removed all the bluetooth pairing etc. on the phone, and reset the TomTom Rider, and it's still says Data for Traffic & other services - Unable to Connect

Just tried again and still the same issue :-(
So seems unlikely to be the server.

Still not getting traffic info. and TomTom Rider 550 is showing
Data for Traffic & other services "Unable to Connect"

Thanks for the tip @Willy875
The 2 cars do not have a cross but I do not get any traffic updates when I am out on a ride :-(

Hi there @steve3 -

I don’t have an android phone, but do you have a hotspot pairing function active on your phone? If so, and it wasn’t switched on, that could be the problem. If that is of no use, then maybe you could try this alternative suggestion as iPhone users a few years back also suffered traffic/texts and call issues whilst linking through the MyDrive app.

1. Delete the MyDrive app on your phone.
2. Delete old Bluetooth pairings of the Rider on your phone.
3. Connect the Rider to your phone via Bluetooth over the standard way (press the “No” request on the gps to download and use the MyDrive app to set up the Bluetooth connection).
4. DO NOT pair your Rider via the MyDrive app if you later decide to install it.
5. In your Rider settings, “forget” the current WiFi connection as this will only be required for downloads and likely to take priority over the Bluetooth connection.
6. Within the Rider Bluetooth menu settings for MY connected iPhone, I have Data for Traffic & other services turned on but NOT for Smartphone messages OR See who is calling and if your headset allows it, High quality (A2DP).
7. You are still able to install and use the MyDrive app (signed into your account) afterwards and use it for sending destinations/routing but importantly - don’t pair your Rider within the MyDrive app.

As you are now directly connecting your phone to the Rider over Bluetooth, or WiFi if you so please, linking this way would unfortunately lose the calls/text feature that the MyDrive app facilitated.

Maybe there is no traffic problem?

Normally on Mydrive you should see the traffic now check on the GPS map if you see the traffic.

Do you receive speed camera alerts?
