2) I don't think it's a matter of locating HOME. When I start out, it shows HOME pretty accurately and then navigates me through two turns and about 0.5 miles to get to the gate when I leave.
Do the roads show as a dotted line in your neighborhood? Sometimes mine won't navigate me through "private" roads like at the Air Force Base until I actually get on the roads. Maybe on the map they are private roads or something similar is happening......
Yes. Well, it knows that the road beyond that is a private road (that's why you have a gate right? to keep out members of the public). Private roads are marked as closed to public traffic (because they are), hence it will not be able to navigate you to a destination on a private road. It gets as close as it can (the gate) on the public road.Do you think it somehow knows about the gate????
This has been discussed ad infinitum. In your case, the map is accurate, it just does not contain your house number. If you input your house address (which is not an accurate locational reference), you get guided to the house number range (beginning or end) for that address. The basic problem is postal addresses. They are designed only as an aid for postal delivery, they are not, and never will be, accurate.the map sometime is not accurate! (I input my home address, it is 200m away).
Which one, to walk home from the gate?pikov, did cgigate's suggestion work?

so using "browser the map" feature, add the real location of your gate to your favorite, next time , you will never forget your home again!
