Cancelling a route

I am at my location, but my GPS doesn't think so, so it keeps telling me to get back on the road and go another 250'. There should be a simple way to cancel the route at that point and just return to the map. I can't find it. Any suggestions, or is this just an obvious glitch that I'll have to live with. I have a VIA 1515M, if it matters and I'm otherwise very happy with it.

When I have a route on my GO 1535 and tap the screen I can tap the 'Cancel Route' button at the left hand bottom.

I wish. Mine doesn't have that cancel route button.
