Hi all, this has probably been answered a million times so if it has please can you post the link to a previous thread so save you all having to read the same thing yet again haha?

I am back driving after a 8 year hiatus and I am not comfortable on motorways and dual carriageways. I know I probably sound like I shouldn’t be on the roads but I am fully competent on all others and I have the ability to drive on motorways and dual carriageways (used to do it and have been on since I got the new car) I just have zero fun doing it and would rather avoid them if I can for now.
I have used the thrill function on MyDrive for a big cross country drive and it was so much fun! But I could see some of the roads were big A roads I could have stayed on longer on but I had to turn off them when following the route. I just wondered if there is the facility to make my own route up on either MyDrive or the actual TomTom to make my journeys a bit quicker?
Thanks so much in advance!

To avoid Motorways,on your Via 52, go to Settings >> Route Planning >> @ When a faster route is available, select either 'Ask mee so I can chose' or 'Don't ask me'. >>
@ Always plan this type of route, select 'Fastest' [do not select 'Shortest route' as this will most likely become the longest time wise as it may pick roads through residential neighbourhoods to be the shortest in mileage]. >>
@ Avoid on every route, Interstate highways ( here, on a European device it may say Motorways).

There is no way to way to avoid a dual carriageway but it will be treated as Motorway if it is like a A1 (M).

The Frill function is specially made for motorcycle riders who love to be on a criss cross scenic route.
If you want to stay on longer on a A road go ahead and ignore the constant nagging of the device, eventually, when you are ready, it will direct you back to the planned route.

Yes, you can make your own route but I will leave to to others to advise you on how to do that.

Hi Arno, thanks for your reply.
I have worked out that I can edit routes in my drive so I can avoid certain roads and can drag the ‘road’ onto routes I want to take.
I can only do this however on short journeys-20 miles or so. I am trying to edit certain points of a 200 mile route and I get a ‘working circle’ and then the screen blinks and the point refuses to move.
Really frustrating.
I have emailed customer support for help!
Thanks
