App does not start without internet connection

Yes, having tested it, I also have this problem if I turn off mobile data or switch to airplane mode.
Please watch this video on the PC (not smartphone) and action steps on smartphone and it will solve for you.
 
Since December, Android version does not start without internet connection. I have cleared cache, deleted app and reinstalled it, updated to latest version. Still no luck.

Normally I have internet connection but when traveling to other countries, I do not want roaming charges.

Problem started in December and is a real pain. With internet connection through WiFi or 5g everything works. Without it app will not load.

-Software update not needed as up to date
- Play store – all updated twice until all apps are up to date
-Samsung store updates until says all your apps are up to date

In tomtom go
All united kingdom maps downloaded – there are 3 and are up to date.
Changes applied to maps

Phone restarted

Confirmed that all permissions allowed
toggle on unused app is off
location is allow ALL the time
precise location is togged on

In storage cache cleared
Battery Optimised setting selected


In data usage allow background data usage toggled on
Also allow data usage while data saver is on

RESULT

I then turned tablet off and restarted it without wifi and it works.

But tried it again 2 hours later and it's back to not working. Won't start . Turn WiFi on and it works perfectly. Off and won't start.



First screen has changed and now says TomTom Go Expert for some reason.

Hmm. I am puzzled. The key was also to: Download ENTIRE COUNTRY of your Location and ENTIRE COUNTTRY of your Destination. You downloaded your map and your destination map in their entire countries download /each, , right? (Regarding map name: TomTom Rebranded the name to Go EXPERT instead of Go. Maps and all else is same.) Let me think. I will be back. Please reply that ENTIRE country of your location and destination is downloaded, not just local pieces.
 
Entire country downloaded. I listed all the steps I did in earlier post so you could see if I missed something. I am currently in UK and entire country downloaded

ok. i reviewed all ur steps. thank u. u did everything. i am puzzled why its not loading still. can u please copy and paste all ur steps u did from above to the support email and u will get And automated response in a few minutes with a case number And then a support agent will respond to you tomorrow because they r not Working on the weekend today. and you'll get a response tomorrow. let me know what they say. You must have forgotten to download a UK map; there are four maps to download.

Anyway, the solution given doesn't work for me.

It doesn't pose any particular problem for me; my phone remains connected to the network at all times.

Trin: I think what happened is the app got corrupted after TomTom recently sent several updates and your Tomtom app got corrupted. Can you please clear cache, clear data, then uninstall Tom. Then reboot. Then reinstall tom, then download all UK maps, then make sure maps sayss UPTODATE and REALLOW all permissions and in tomtom SERVICEs, toggle All ON. I think after u do this u will be all set . Because as you saw in my video, mine works, and your should work too, but I believe the code in the app got corrupted and thats why not loading. Go ahead and do all this and let me know

Willy, I think his app got corrupted after TT sent so many updates. I think app code got corrupted. He will uninstall/reinstall and see.

tomorrow. I will check tomorrow. I am in NY so I am 7 hours behind you.
 
Did the following steps

Cache cleared
Data cleared
Confirmed that 0MB storage used for cache and data
App uninstalled
Tablet turn off then restarted
TT installed from google store
All UK maps downloaded including ferry connections
Improved Route bar updated
All permissions granted
Maps confirmed up to date
All TT services toggled on
Logged into TT with my email address and password
turned wifi off
Restarted machine without wifi

RESULTS
TT worked ! But I started the app again 2-3 hours later and it wouldn't start. With Wi-Fi, it works perfectly. Makes no sense. I’ll run another test overnight.

If it doesn't work in the morning, I’m going to give up .

Will let you know the results.
 
I have noticed that without an internet connection the app takes considerably longer to launch, are you waiting long enough? It can take up to 60 seconds or more to launch without an internet connection.
 
Just tried to launch app without wi-fi. Circle above "loading app" going round and round after 180 seconds. Doesn't start.

Turned WiFi back on and started in about 4 seconds

Did that. See my post above at 6;30 yesterday. About 3 posts up from here. Shows all the steps I did

Doesn't work this morning when off line
