searched a little but have seen mixed answers...can someone please clarify...does the new update for the 720 offer voice input recognition...? or is it something i have to do on my own?...thanks

It's something you have to do on your own, but it's very simple to do.
In order for it to work you'll need to have firmware 7.221 and the newest map 710.1584.

Just D/L the attached zip file and extract the file support_asr.dat into the ASR folder located on your TT after you have the latest firmware and map and you're good to go. You may need to do a soft reset with a paper clip afterwards, thats all I did to get mine working.

I can't find ASR folder on my buddy's 720. Are the 3 letters of ASR written is Caps? Linux is very case sensitive.

Yes it's all caps ASR
Does your buddy have the latest firmware 7.221 and the latest map 710.1854 ?
In my original backup of the unit I made prior to doing any modifications there
was no ASR folder present. It was installed with the firmware update.
