hi im new here be easy ok, i have a supposed to be xls but on startup the screen reads as xl how can i be sure i bought a xls thank you.

Two suggestions....

1. Using Notepad in conjunction with Windows Explorer, look at the contents of the file ttgo.bif in the root of the unit. One of the rows indicates the model, I believe.
2. Attempt to select a computer voice and see whether it works.

The 's' stands for speech (or text to speech) and the xls should allow for you to pick a computer voice and hear the streets and directions spoken

Also, the One XLS serial number begins with an L4. You'll see it on the bottom of the unit right next to the bar code. A normal XL device begins with L1.
