Xl 330s

My friend just bought an XL 330S and when he went into the menu to choose a computer voice so that it would announce street names it said unavailable so he had to download one from the TomTom site. He also could not download other things to it upon start up he had to go the TOMTOM website and do some things so that he could download to the unit. Is this normal? I have an XL 340S and never had to go through that.

Was this after a map upgrade and, if so, did he have to remove items (like voices) to make the map fit in the first place?

No update, just trying to get things to work.

That's not normal. Usually the voices are reloaded and all you have to do is choose it. Did your every ever get things working properly?
