Updating Device Taking Ages

My start 50 is taking ages at the.
Updating Device stage on My Drive Connect it took 1.5 hours to 100% download Europe western update etc onto Connect then it is showing " waiting for device" with 3 dots under title of updating device ......? The TomTom itself is saying connected to your computer....it did start talking and searching in local area as a background for about 10 minutes early on but now nothing .....is this right ...no % or timer ? Last time it wiped my maps ????

All seems to be good after hibernating overnight .... started everything back up ...had never unplugged my device then % circle spinning for first time on Connect to say Updating Device... took 40 mins and my device said it was updated... if you dont hear from me then it worked out on the field ............
