Start 50
I have a Dell Laptop running Windows 10 and I am completely fed up with trying to update my Start 52 using my drive connect. It goes through the routine and gets to the point of downloading the updates. I then get a message saying 'Connect your device' even though it is connected. The download fails. I even tried downloading MyDrive connect for Windows XP but this fails also

Some other kind souls on the forum suggested checking device manager to see if the computer was recognising the satnav.

I am a sales manager in heavy engineering and do not possess intimate computer knowledge or experience and really only want a simple updating service.

If the massive organisations like TomTom and Microsoft cannot work together to get this problem sorted then God help us all.

Does anyone have any suggestions...?

The reason that it has been suggested that you check with Device Manager is so that we can determine where the failure occurs. If the even the OS (Win 10) does not see the device, then by default MyDrive Connect cannot see what the computer cannot see, and we have divided our troubleshooting problem in half.

There is also the possibility that neither are the problem and that instead, a 'virus detection' program sees something about this rather unique configuration (your Start 52 is actually a little mini-server) that troubles it, and it is preventing the download from occurring. Kaspersky used to be quite rigid about such things, as one example. You could start by disabling any 'Anti-Virus' program that may be running just long enough to see if the download begins.
